Celebrate Springtime in Tallahassee
Downtown Road Closures This Weekend
March 28, 2017
This weekend is Springtime Tallahassee, which means that residents and visitors alike will be buzzing around downtown Tallahassee enjoying food, family and fun. An expected crowd of more than 150,000 people will be “Living it up in the City”, which is the theme for this year’s celebration.
“Springtime Tallahassee is a tradition enjoyed by people from all over, and it signals the arrival of Festival Season in our community,” Mayor Andrew Gillum said. “With vendors from across the country, plenty of opportunities for family fun, and the parade as its centerpiece, this is an event that showcases Tallahassee as a regional destination city.”
Kick off the weekend on Friday night, March 31, at the music festival on Kleman Plaza, which is free and open to the public, and features headliner Easton Corbin. The festivities rev into high gear on Saturday, April 1, with the annual Springtime Tallahassee 10K, Grand Parade and Jubilee in the Park. There will also be a kids’ area in E. Peck Greene Park where your young ones can enjoy face painting, pony rides, clowns and a host of other magical experiences.
During the parade on Saturday, help cheer on the Mayor and City Commissioners as they “Take the T” – the City of Tallahassee’s Trolley. Be on the lookout for other City-related parade participants including Tallahassee Police Department, Tallahassee Fire Department and the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department.
The celebration will cause impacts to traffic. Motorists are reminded to allot extra time for their travels in the heart of the Capital City this weekend. Below are the planned road closures.
