Update: April 5, 2019
Weekend work postponed. Thomasville Road will be open.
Original Release: April 3, 2019
The City of Tallahassee is committed to providing quality infrastructure to allow residents and businesses to thrive in our community. As part of a larger water and sewer improvement project in the Midtown area, the City will be completing underground utility work along Beard Street near Thomasville Road. The work requires accessing a manhole on Thomasville Road at the Beard Street intersection. Because Thomasville Road is a state owned and maintained roadway, the Florida Department of Transportation has approved the City to close Thomasville Road at the Beard Street intersection from 6 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, through 6 a.m. on Monday, April 8.
Access to businesses in this area of Thomasville Road will be maintained at all times. Detour routes around the closure will be clearly posted, which include using Gadsden Street as a northbound alternative and Monroe Street as a southbound and/or northbound alternative.
