Suspect Arrested for Armed Vehicle Burglary

The quick response of Tallahassee Police Department patrol officers to a report of a suspicious person looking into parked vehicles led to the arrest of a person for armed vehicle burglary. Officers responded to the 1800 block of Larette Drive early this morning and located a male in the area matching the suspect description provided by an alert citizen. When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he ran from the area but was detained after a brief foot pursuit.
Probable cause was developed to arrest Marvin Jefferson, a Florida Convicted Felon, for the vehicle burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Items from the vehicle and a loaded 9mm firearm were located in Mr. Jefferson’s possession during the investigation and arrest. The stolen items were returned to the owner. Mr. Jefferson was transported to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing.

Possession of a Firearm by a Florida Convicted Felon pursuant to Florida Statute 790.23(1)(a).
Armed Burglary of a Conveyance pursuant to Florida Statute 810.02(2)(b).
Resisting an Officer without violence pursuant to Florida Statute 843.02.
Violation of Probation/Carrying a Concealed Weapon pursuant to Florida Statute 948.06.
