CRA Accepting Applications for Event Grant Programs
Workshop Takes Place June 6 for Area Nonprofits
May 30, 2019
From festivals to markets, there are many unique offerings held each year in Tallahassee. To support a vibrant culture, the City of Tallahassee Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board has authorized $185,000 to help fund the Fiscal Year 2020 Promotional & Special Event Grant and Large Event Grant Programs. The Greater Frenchtown/Southside (GFS) and Downtown (DT) Promotional/Special Event Grant Program has been approved for a total of $85,000, with $50,000 allocated for the GFS District and $35,000 allocated for the DT District. The DT Large Event Grant Program has been approved for $100,000. Events for the three programs must take place within the applicable CRA District for which the application is submitted.
The purpose of each program is to provide support to special events that promote the goals and objectives of the applicable CRA District Redevelopment Plan. The Promotional/Special Event Grant Program caters to smaller events, while the Large Event Grant Program is intended for large-scale events that attract a regional audience and generate hotel stays and economic activity within the DT District.
Grant funds for any of the three programs will be available to qualified not-for-profit organizations that will host a qualified event during Fiscal Year 2020, which starts on October 1, 2019, and ends on September 30, 2020.
For GFS and DT Promotional & Special Event (Small) Grants – The maximum grant award per application is $5,000, with no minimum grant award.
For DT Large Event Grants – The maximum grant award is $25,000 per application, with first-time events being eligible for a maximum grant of $40,000. The minimum grant award is $10,000.
Applications will be accepted beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 3. The application period will end at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 28, unless extended by the CRA. Applications will be reviewed and scored based on a competitive process, with the highest scored applications being funded. Program details, including the applications and guidelines, are available at Talgov.com/CRA or may be picked up in person from the CRA office, located on the third floor of City Hall, 300 South Adams Street.
The CRA will host a pre-application workshop for those not-for-profit organizations interested in applying for funding through the three grant programs. The workshop will cover the guidelines and applications for all three programs. It will be held on Thursday, June 6, from 6-8 p.m. in the first-floor conference room of the Frenchtown Renaissance Center, located at 435 North Macomb Street. Attendance at the pre-application workshop is not required but is strongly encouraged.
An applicant can only apply for one of the event programs for the fiscal year event grant cycle.
