TPD Investigates Crash at 1000 Block of West Tennessee Street (Updated January 30, 2020, 5:00 PM)

The investigation has been completed. TPD is saddened to report the pedestrian involved in this case has died from her injuries, and our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased.
The investigators concluded the driver ran the red light at the pedestrian crosswalk in the 1000 block of West Tennessee Street and struck the pedestrian, who was in the crosswalk.
After consulting with the State Attorney’s Office, it was determined criminal charges were not applicable. The driver will be issued the appropriate citations.

Update as of 12:00 PM:
Officers have cleared the scene and normal traffic patterns have been restored. The pedestrian has been transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. This case is still under active investigation.
Traffic Homicide Investigators asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene, or anyone with information about the accident to please call 850-891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit.

The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a crash involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian in the 1000 block of West Tennessee Street, which is the area between Stadium Drive and Woodward Avenue. Traffic is blocked eastbound on Tennessee Street, and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Traffic Homicide Investigators have been called to the scene and have assumed the investigation. TPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash, but did not speak with an officer on scene, or anyone with information about the accident to please call 850-891-4200 and ask to speak with the Traffic Homicide Unit. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
