After further investigation into the incident at 1604 Governors Square Boulevard, charges were not filed against the adult female. Officers interviewed witnesses and examined the evidence in the case during the on-scene investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, it was determined there was no probable cause under Florida Statute to arrest the female due to the fact the weapon was a pellet/BB gun and it was not displayed in a threatening manner.

TPD is investigating a weapons incident 1604 Governors Square Boulevard (Kirkland’s) which occurred this afternoon at approximately 2:33 p.m. Officers arrived in the area and received information an adult female walked inside the store with a gun and barricaded herself inside a bathroom in the store. All customers and employees were evacuated to a safe location while officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. At 2:49 p.m., the female was detained by TPD officers who then ensured the entire area was safe.
The gun was found to be a pellet/BB gun which had the appearance of a rifle. Thankfully, no one was hurt during this incident. The incident is still actively being investigated and TPD will provide more information when it becomes available.
