Arrest Made in Stabbing on Park Avenue

After a thorough investigation by the Tallahassee Police Department’s Patrol Bureau and Violent Crimes Unit, an arrest has been made in the stabbing that occurred on Friday, Sept. 25.
Shortly after the victim was attacked in his home in the 600 block of Park Avenue, officers observed a man emerging from bushes nearby. The man matched the description provided by the victim and tried to avoid contact with police. After speaking with the man, police charged him with loitering and prowling that night, while the investigation into the stabbing continued.
Investigators conducted follow-up interviews and were able to link the arrestee with evidence left on scene at the stabbing. Probable cause was developed on Sept. 29 to charge the arrestee with the stabbing.

Kervensly Devert, 20, charged with attempted first-degree homicide and burglary person assaulted.

On Friday, Sept. 25, the Tallahassee Police Department was called to a home on the 600 block of Park Avenue in reference to a stabbing.
The victim, an adult male, said that around 9:30 p.m. he was sitting in the living room when he heard a loud knock on the back door. Grabbing his shotgun for protection, the victim opened the door and initially did not see anyone. Suddenly, the victim was charged from the side of the porch by someone he did not know. The victim and the suspect fell into the home and started fighting. The suspect stabbed the victim five times, and the victim was able to hit the suspect multiple times with the stock of the shotgun. The suspect fled the area after the attack.
The victim’s injuries are non-life threatening, and he is in stable condition. The suspect is described as a Black male in his 20s, dressed in all black with short hair, possibly with twists. The suspect may have been carrying a bag before the incident.
Tallahassee Police Investigators ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident, but did not speak with an officer on scene, or anyone with information about the stabbing to please call 850-891-4200. They may also remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
