The Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) fought fires at both commercial and residential structures before the break of dawn today, Feb. 15.
At approximately 3:15 a.m., TFD units were dispatched to a report of a fire at 1528 W. Tennessee St. Upon arrival, crews found smoke and fire showing from the Domino’s Pizza at this location. Crews forced entry and worked quickly to extinguish the fire to minimize the extensive damage. TFD was assisted on scene by the Tallahassee Police Department, City of Tallahassee Utilities and Leon County EMS.
A little over an hour later, at around 4:33 a.m., TFD units were dispatched to a report of a residential fire on Cottage Wood Trail. Upon arrival, there was heavy smoke and fire showing from the back of the house. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire and keep the heaviest damage (aside from smoke damage) to mostly one room and its contents. Damages are estimated to be roughly $25,000. The Red Cross was called to assist the home’s occupants. TFD also received assistance on scene from the City of Tallahassee Utilities, Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Leon County EMS.
