City of Tallahassee Receives National Recognition for Financial Reporting
April 03, 2023
The City of Tallahassee has again been recognized for its fiscal stewardship having received the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA's) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 41st consecutive year. Earning this honor yet again reflects the City’s unwavering commitment to the highest principles of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which include demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate the City’s financial story and motivate stakeholders to read the report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment, according to GFOA.
“Professional and transparent fiscal management is paramount for maintaining public trust and leading with integrity. Earning this certificate reinforces that we are doing just that,” City Manager Reese Goad said. “I’m immensely proud of our Financial Services team, which must work with every City department to guide, advise and administer this effort.”
Earlier this month, it was announced that the City of Tallahassee received the Government Finance Officers Association's (GFOA's) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the current fiscal year. Earning these awards reflects the City's steadfast commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
