New Service Will Provide Better Efficiency and Greater Convenience for Commuters - To improve efficiency and meet the needs of commuters in the SouthWood area, StarMetro will begin providing a new weekday express service starting on Monday, Dec. 16. This new service, known as the SouthWood Express, will provide commuters with a direct route from SouthWood to downtown, allowing commuters to travel between the two major destinations in as little as 30 minutes with no transfer.
The SouthWood Express will offer round-trip service from the SouthWood Town Center to the Koger Center and C.K. Steele Plaza ten times each weekday, concentrating on morning, mid-day and late afternoon. Buses will arrive at the SouthWood Town Center beginning at 7 a.m., and the last departure from the town center will be at 6:20 p.m. To reduce redundancy between the new express service and existing services, the Tall Timbers and Red Hills routes will be modified. Both routes will be combined into a single Tall Timbers route.
“By combining the SouthWood portions of the Red Hills and Tall Timbers routes that overlap, we can distribute our resources more efficiently,” said Ivan Maldonado, director of StarMetro. “As a result, we can provide a direct, express route from SouthWood to downtown – giving residents and commuters a faster and more convenient service.”
The SouthWood Express has been designed to meet the needs of morning commuters, both to and from SouthWood, students at Florida State University Schools and residents of the community. It not only offers access to employment, education, medical services as well as life-sustaining and social activities, but it demonstrates StarMetro’s ongoing commitment to providing the best customer service possible.
