Trail Closures Signal Final Phase of Project
Bridge to Link City and County Trails to be Installed
January 21, 2014
As part of the Lafayette Heritage Trail Bridge project, trails in both the City's Lafayette Heritage Trail Park and Leon County's J.R. Alford Greenway will be closed again beginning today. The closures are necessary to install the pedestrian bridge that is being built over the CSX railroad tracks and the accompanying walkway on the north side of the tracks.
When complete, the project will provide a safe, vital link in the Tallahassee Greenway and Trail System, while preserving trees and creating scenic vistas.
The closure will specifically impact trails leading from the East Dam in Lafayette Heritage Trail Park in Piney Z to the J.R. Alford Greenway. Notices will be posted at the beginning of all closed trails. The project is scheduled to be completed by early spring.
