City Service Changes for Memorial Day Holiday
May 20, 2020
The City of Tallahassee will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 25. Following are schedule changes for the week of May 24-30 for solid waste customers living inside the Tallahassee city limits, StarMetro and more.
Solid Waste Schedule Changes
During the holiday week, all residential garbage and recycling customers will receive service one day later than their regularly scheduled service (see changes below). The Memorial Day holiday will also impact blue week customers for bulky items and yard waste pickup.
- Monday customers - Tuesday, May 26
- Tuesday customers - Wednesday, May 27
- Wednesday customers - Thursday, May 28
- Thursday customers - Friday, May 29
- Friday customers - Saturday, May 30
Many utility customers are sprucing up their lawns, resulting in piles of yard debris left curbside for collection. Residential yard debris is collected at the curb in front of each residence every other week, per the Red/Blue Week schedule. When disposing of yard debris, place it in your yard (not on the street or sidewalk) within three feet of the curb or sidewalk and away from any low-hanging wires, trees or other obstacles, such as mailboxes, fences, etc. Clippings and pine straw may be placed in clear plastic bags, paper yard bags or boxes. For shrubs and limbs, make one pile per household that is no larger than 6 feet long, 4 feet wide and 4 feet high. The maximum size for limbs if 6 feet long and 4 inches in diameter. Separate yard waste piles from any bulky items set out for pickup.
Garbage and recycling containers should both be rolled to the curb for pickup no later than 6:30 a.m. on collection day, with both containers returned to the home the day after collection. For more information, visit Talgov.com/YOU or call 850-891-4968.
