The City of Tallahassee considers its local business community to be a vital part of the community and the local economy; therefore, promoting a business climate that enhances the economic viability of local business enterprises serves a vital public purpose.

The purpose of the City of Tallahassee Local Business Certification Program is to stimulate the local economy, within the confines of the Federal and State procurement laws and regulations and to further promote the utilization and participation of local businesses with respect to city purchases and contracts. By implementing this program, the City of Tallahassee can use its purchasing power to support local businesses and promote the creation and retention of local jobs.

How is the directory built?

Information contained in this directory is compiled from the certification applications received from the local businesses and our current database information.

What is a Local Business?

A local business is defined as a person, firm, corporation, or other business entity which is duly licensed and authorized to engage in the particular business at issue, and which has maintained a permanent place of business with full-time employees within Leon, Gadsden, Jefferson, or Wakulla County, Florida for a minimum of six (6) months prior to the date bids were received for the purchase or contract at issue.
