Health & Fitness
The Tallahassee Senior Center Health Program offers seniors the resources to continue a lifestyle of positive aging through low or no-cost preventive health care and education. The Center's Health Program Coordinator, a registered nurse, facilitates a variety of preventive health screenings. The nurse is also available to assist seniors with accessing medical services available in the community. Volunteer nurses and aides provide additional helping hands and administrative support.

- Vision Screenings: 2nd Tuesday each month, 9:30 – 11:30am by South East Eye Specialists.

- Balance Screenings and Postural Assessments: Thursday, April 17, 9:30 – 11:30am by TOSPT. Physical Therapist offers screenings to assess balance and gait and offer strategies to decrease risk of falls.

- Pulse Oximetry Screenings: Thursday, April 24, 10:00am - 12:00n. Offered by Desloge Home Oxygen. Quick, easy screening determines the condition of your respiratory system by measuring how much oxygen is in your blood.
Fitness
Feldenkrais at the Tallahassee Senior Center - New
Friday, beginning March 28, 11:00am – 12:00n (replaces Friday seated yoga).
Be part of the first Feldenkrais Method's class in North Florida! Beneficial for those experiencing chronic or acute pain of the back, neck, shoulder, hip, legs or knee, as well as for healthy individuals who wish to enhance their self-image. Taught by Craig Stubbs, LMT, Feldenkrais Practitioner-in-Training.
Brain-Body Balance
Low impact. Bring water bottle and wear comfortable clothing.

Chair Yoga
Tuesday, 11:00am – 12:00n by Certified Yoga Instructors Bridget Kamke. A gentle yoga workout for increased mobility, bladder control, self-esteem, and mental focus.
Life Exercise
Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 – 10:30am by instructor. Aerobics, light weights, and stretching.
Vitalife Group Exercise Class
Tuesday and Thursday, 4:00 – 5:00pm by Universal Health Care. Low impact, total body workout.
Tai Chi
Wednesday and Friday, 10:00 – 11:00am Beginner's class; 11:00am – 12:00n Continuing class.
Yoga
Monday and Wednesday, 5:30 - 7:00pm, taught by certified yoga instructor Pamela Hunter. Vigorous practice for adults includes poses, relaxation, and mediation. Wear comfortable clothes and bring yoga mat (if you have one). Cost: $10 seniors; $12 others.
Podiatrist Screening & Footcare
Thursday, May 8, 1:30pm, Dr. Gary McCoy, podiatrist will cut toenails and assess foot problems in the Health Suite. Dr. McCoy accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and secondary insurance, which may cover costs for this service if you have diabetes, vascular disease, neuropathy, renal failure, MS, or take Coumadin. Otherwise, $25 flat fee applies. No appointment necessary.

Donations of Medical Equipment Appreciated
The Senior Center graciously accepts donations of new or used (but clean) medical equipment. We serve as a community resource for seniors that are in need of durable medical equipment, short or long term. We currently have plenty of bedside commodes (potty chairs) but are accepting shower chairs, walkers, bathtub grab bars, adult diapers, scooters, lift chairs, and canes.
