Gaines Street is a shared road facility. This means there are not designated bike lanes; bicycles and cars share the road. For information, visit the Cyclist Safety page.
Public art was incorporated into the project in a variety of ways, like wrapping traffic signal boxes.
Murals line the road thanks to community efforts, local artists and local businesses.

Phase II of the project was completed in spring 2013. A crowd gathered to view the re-opening.
