A City of Tallahassee application MUST be completed and submitted by the published deadline in order to be considered for any advertised City vacancy.
The city's employment application is immediately available for completion in several formats. The City of Tallahassee will collect the last four digits of an applicant's social security number for identification and verification purposes, and will not release it unless required to do so by law:

Tips on Submitting Applications
- Incomplete applications, or applications received after the deadlines defined as follows, will not be considered.
- Personally delivered applications must be received in Human Resources no later than 5:00 p.m. on the published closing date.
- An application submitted by US mail must be postmarked on or before the published closing date.
- An application transmitted to Human Resources by email or fax must reflect a transmission receipt time no later than midnight of the published closing date.
- If you wish to submit a resume, it must be accompanied by a completed City application.
- Remember to indicate the applicable position number and position title on the application in the space provided.
- A non-City employee applicant selected for a regular or temporary position will be required to reimburse the City for a portion of the costs associated with applicable pre-employment screenings.

Job Tips & Extras
- An applicant (external and current city employee) selected to fill a current vacant position will be subject to a criminal history screening.
- An applicant must pay close attention to accurately and truthfully completing the Background Information section on the City Employment Application. Any omission, falsification, misstatement, or misrepresentation of the information provided may disqualify an applicant from further consideration.
- An applicant selected for certain city positions is subject to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. An applicant selected for a Safety Sensitive City position requiring a (CDL) commercial drivers' license must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.

- Please do not contact the department where the vacancy exists. A department representative will contact you if they are interested in interviewing you. The hiring department is responsible for notifying all eligible candidates once the vacancy is filled.
- All males between the ages of 18 and 26 years of age shall be required to show proof of selective service registration or exemption before being employed with the City of Tallahassee. This requirement also applies to current employees selected to fill vacant positions. Contact the Selective Service System for more information or to register on-line.
