Landlord Participation Agreement
The City of Tallahassee has developed a free mediation program that will benefit both you (as a landlord/property manager) and your residents.
Mediation is an informal process in which a neutral third party assists in reaching a voluntary, negotiated resolution of a landlord/tenant dispute. The decision to mediate is completely voluntary for the landlord and the tenant and professional mediation is provided at no cost to the participants.
The goals of the City of Tallahassee's Landlord/Tenant Mediation Program are to:
- Build and strengthen communications between tenants and property managers;
- Reduce tensions in the rental housing market and reduce the number of disputes handled by the court system by providing a means for tenants and property managers to resolve disputes related to rent increases, security deposits, lease termination, etc.; and
- Educate the rental community on rights and responsibilities of both tenants and property managers.
We hope that you will take advantage of this program as issues of concern arise between you and your tenants before resorting to court processes.
