This morning, the Tallahassee Regional Airport (TLH) greeted the arrival of Delta Flight 645 with a water salute in honor of the 30 years of service Delta Air Lines has provided Tallahassee. The anniversary celebration kicked-off at Delta’s arrival/departure gate with remarks from elected officials Mayor John Marks and City Commissioner Scott Maddox. Mayor Marks then presented Delta representatives with a proclamation recognizing today as “Delta Day.”
“For 30 years Delta has been providing superior service to Tallahassee airport customers,” said Mayor Marks. “We are very proud of this outstanding partnership and look forward to continued success.”
Delta Air Lines began serving the Tallahassee community in 1983; today, Delta connects Tallahassee to 328 destinations in 64 countries on six continents, allowing Florida’s capital city to compete in the global economy. Delta Air Lines offers ten peak day departures from Tallahassee to Atlanta and seasonal service to Fort Lauderdale.
“When we talk about creating jobs in Tallahassee, having airline service is key,” said City Commissioner Maddox, lead commissioner on airport issues. “Delta has served this region for 30 years and we believe that as we grow, so will our airline connections.”
Delta Air Lines is one of four major commercial air carriers serving the Tallahassee market. In fiscal year 2013, TLH served over 697,000 total commercial passengers. This number represents a five percent increase over fiscal year 2012. Delta Air Lines comprised more than 54 percent of these passenger totals.
