TPD Arrests Convicted Felon with Firearm and Drugs

The Tallahassee Police Department’s Violent Crimes Response Team (VCRT) was conducting proactive patrols on Friday, April 26, 2019 to address citizen complaints of criminal activity in the area of South Meridian Street and Castlewood Drive. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle around 8:41 p.m. and it quickly pulled into a residential driveway. The driver attempted to walk away rapidly, initially ignoring the officer’s requests for him to stop but was eventually detained. An on-scene investigation was conducted by officers resulting in the arrest of Xavier Givens for drugs and firearms related offenses. During the officers' contact with Mr. Givens, they located a loaded 9mm handgun, cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Mr. Givens is a Florida Convicted Felon and was arrested on charges related to the gun and drugs. Mr. Givens was transported to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing.

Violation of Probation (felony) pursuant to Florida Statute 948.06.
