TPD Makes Arrests Following Two Unrelated Shootings
September 16, 2020
The Tallahassee Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit has been persistently working on active investigations involving recent shootings in our community. Thanks to diligent work from investigators and with help from witnesses, two arrests have been made in two separate and unrelated shooting incidents.
The first incident occurred on Aug. 14 in the 2000 block of Holmes Street. Investigators determined the shooting followed a dispute between the suspect and the two victims. After a thorough investigation, Eric Nealy was identified as the shooter. With the assistance of the U.S. Marshal's Service Task Force, Nealy was arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
The second incident occurred on Aug. 28 at Springfield Apartments, located at 1700 Joe Louis Street. Three victims were shot while they congregated outside of an apartment. The suspects fled the area in a silver sedan.
A few hours after the shooting, officers stopped a vehicle matching the suspects' vehicle description. The two occupants fled on foot but were quickly apprehended, and a firearm was recovered. Based on evidence collected at the crime scene and recovered as a result of the traffic stop, probable cause was developed to charge one of the subjects, Donovan Gay, with the shooting.
These two incidents are still actively being investigated. TPD's investigators believe there are individuals who have information regarding these incidents and ask them to come forward by calling 850-891-4200. If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS.
