  • Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 8:00pm
  • Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm
  • Saturday: Special scheduling may be provided for community rentals, special events, activities and functions

The Smith-Williams Service Center, is located in the Bond Community, was dedicated by Mayor Hurley Rudd and the City of Tallahassee on October 11, 1981.
The Smith-Williams Service Center was named in the honor of Elder Owen Smith and Mrs. Lucile Williams whose visions were to provide social service and meeting space for the Bond Community citizens.

Smith-Williams Service Center is a neighborhood multi-purpose facility that provides access to human and social services in the area of health, education, culture and technology. The Smith-Williams Service Center offers youth, teens, adults and senior citizens programming, family services, groups meeting space, lease space and volunteer opportunities. The center also seeks to provide intergenerational program and services to the Bond and Southside Communities citizens.
                                                   
Smith-Williams Service Center’s goals and objective are to provide comprehensive and challenging intergenerational programs and services such as seminars, workshops, physical fitness wellness, arts & crafts, musicals, socials, outings, academic activities, enrichment that improve and strengthen the youth, teens, adults, and seniors quality of life.
 
Smith-Williams Service Center provides units of service to numerous of citizens throughout the City of Tallahassee. The center continues to expand and is a catalyst in providing intergenerational programs and services.

Free Community Youth Programs:

  • K-5th After-school Enrichment Program - Provides after school enrichment for K-5th grades students. While the primary emphasis is on academic enhancements, youth also enjoy arts and crafts, cultural awareness, music, performing arts, and other exciting paths of personal expressions. The After school Enrichment Program is a partnership with Leon County School Title I Program. Operation hours are Monday-Friday from 3:00p.m. 5:30p.m.
  • Summer Enrichment Camp - The six (6) weeks summer camp program starts in June 11th and ends in July 20th. K-5th grade students enjoy a fun-filled educational and extra-curricular summer.  Youth are involved in an array of activities such as field trips, arts and crafts, music, and academic enhancements. Operation hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00a.m –5:00p.m.

 

Science Laboratory Experiment Program

This partnership with Florida State University Science Department provides free hands-on science laboratory experiments, presentations and activities that engage and educate the after-school enrichment program students and community students. Operation hours are TBA

Free  Community Senior Programs:

  • Senior Congregate Meal Program - The Smith-Williams Service Center and Elder Care Services’ partnership offers nutritional (buffet style) meals Monday-Friday from 12:00p.m. – 1:00p.m.
  •  Indoor and Outdoor Games-(In partnership with the Smith-Williams Foundation) Provides community seniors an opportunity to engage, fellowship, and enjoy indoor and outdoor games such as billiard, card & board games, and horseshoe tossing Monday-Thursday from 9:00a.m. -7:00p.m. & Friday 9:00a.m. – 6:00p.m.

Free Community Class:

  • Community Computer Class- Provides community citizens computer technology classes in Microsoft Office, Computer Hardware Trainings, Operating System, Internet Basics, Windows 7 - 10, TBA.

 Free Community Annual Programs & Events:

  • Community Child Care Centers’ Easter Bunny Comes to Smith-Williams Service Center Kids Easter Egg Hunt - (In partnership with Delta Kappa Omega Chapter Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority) Ten Southside Community Child Care Centers students gather together to find colored eggs and photographs with the Easter bunny on Wednesday, March 28th  from 10:00a.m. - 1:00p.m
  • Seniors & Pastor’s Thanksgiving Luncheon -  Community seniors gather for  fellowship and a nutritious Thanksgiving meal on the 2nd Wednesday in November from 11:00a.m. - 1:00p.m.  (In partnership with CommunityChurches and the Smith-Williams Foundation
  • Community Child Care Centers Soul Santa Comes to Smith-Williams Service Center Kids Christmas Program -  -(In partnership with the Smith-Williams Foundation) Ten Community Child Care Centers students gather together for free gifts, treats and photographs with Santa Claus on the 1st Monday in December from 9:30a.m. - 1:00p.m.
  • Community Seniors Holiday Christmas Luncheon – Community seniors gather for holiday luncheon with gift giveaways on the 2nd Wednesday in December from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m.
  • Community Seniors Holiday Christmas Ball – Community seniors gather for holiday ball dancing and fellowshipping on 1st Friday in December from 11:00a.m.-1:00p.m.
  • Soul Santa Comes to Bond Community Christmas Program– (Smith-Williams Service Center, Walker-Ford Recreation Center, Smith-Williams Foundation and Community Partners) Provide the community youth with Christmas celebrations, entertainment, and gifts on the 4th Saturday in December from 10:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.
  • Emancipation Celebration “Seniors Spring Fest Outing” at Tom Brown Park– (Smith-Williams Service Center, Center, Smith-Williams Foundation and Community Partners) Senior citizens gather together to fellowship, enjoy outdoor games, activities, fishing tournaments, and a picnic ($3.00 donation) 3rd Friday in May from 10:00a.m. - 1:00p.m.

Free Community Ongoing Services (through partnerships):

  • Online Applications Computer Access- Provides food stamps, SSI, etc. agency Department of Children and Families - Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-5:00p.m. for the months of May-December.
  • Voters Registration & Voting Precinct #17 – Voting site for local, state, and federal elections - Monday-Friday from 8:00a.m.-6:00p.m. for the months of October-September.
  • Income Tax Assistance – (In partnership with VITA) - Provides free income tax preparation assistance –Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m.-7:00p.m. & Saturdays from 9:00a.m.-2:00p.m. for the months of January-April.
  • Pastries & Bread Distribution- Provides free pastries & bread donations from the local Publix Store -  distributions are every Thursday from 12:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.
  • Clothes Give Away- (In partnership with Bethel A.M.E. Church Ministry) - Provides free clothes and shoes donations on the 2nd Saturday in December from 9:00a.m.-1:00 p.m.
  • Greater Bond Neighborhood Association –Provides community citizens an opportunity to meet, discuss, and share information, concerns, issues, and/or solutions for the improvement of Greater Bond Community. The association meets on 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:00p.m.
  • Partnership, Sponsorship, & Community Service Work Opportunities –  Monday-Friday from 8:00a.m.-8:00p.m. & Saturdays for the months of October to September.

Community Social and Human Service Agency:

  • Neighborhood Medical Center, Inc.(224-2409) –Provides health services to low income, uninsured, under-insured and straight medical individuals who do not have insurance: Services include walk-in clinic, community health screenings, eye clinic and distribution of hygiene items. Monday-Friday from 8:00a.m.-6:00p.m. 1st  & 3rd  Saturdays from 9:00a.m.-2:00p.m.  

Boards:

  • Smith-Williams Advisory Board-Assists the staff of the Smith-Williams Service Center to appraise the City Commission and Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs. The board meets on a bi-monthly basis the first Mondays of October, December, February, April, and August of each month at 6:00p.m.
  •  Smith-Williams Foundation Board-Promotes the center through grant writing and fundraisers to augment programs and services for youth, teens, adults and senior citizens. The  Executive Board meets monthly on the 3rd Tuesday at 6:00p.m. and General Board meets quarterly on the 4th Tuesday at 6:00p.m.

 

Volunteer/Internship Opportunity:

  • Smith- Williams Service Center -Encourages volunteers, interns, college work-study students, retirees, community citizens, groups and organizations to assist with center youth, teens, adults and seniors’ programs and services.  Monday-Friday from 8:00a.m. - 6:00p.m.,and Saturdays as needed.
