Precautionary Boil Water Notice

PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE - RESCINDED
The Precautionary Boil Water Notice has been lifted as of 08/28/2020 at 09:00 AM for City of Tallahassee Water Customers that were impacted by loss of water system pressure in the vicinity of Pedrick Road south of Buck Lake Road. This includes all customers in the neighborhoods of Enclave, Easton, Benjamin's Run, Avondale, Countryside, Swift Creek Woods and Stoney Creek Crossing, as well as Swift Creek Middle School and Buck Lake Elementary School.
The cause of the water system loss of pressure has been identified and isolated or repaired, and the 2-day bacteriological survey shows that YOUR TAP WATER IS SAFE TO DRINK. It is recommended that you perform the following steps to flush your plumbing system before using your tap water:
- Run outdoor taps and hose bibs for at least one minute or until the water runs clear;
- Remove the screens and filters from all faucets and run the water (hot and cold) from all indoor fixtures for at least one minute or until the water runs clear;
- Clean (if possible) and/or replace faucet screens;
- Flush your refrigerator water dispenser; and
- Dispose of any existing ice from your automatic ice makers and then dispose the next batch of ice;
- Replace all water filters with new filters.
We apologize for any inconvenience during this precautionary measure and thank you for your cooperation. For questions or assistance, please call 850-891-1200 to speak to a representative of Water Operations.

What is a precautionary boil water notice?
A precautionary boil water notice may be issued in the event of a water main break, a loss of power or water pressure, or another emergency that may create the opportunity for contaminants to enter the pipes. The precautionary boil water notice does not mean that the water is contaminated; however, if you receive one, the City recommends – as a precaution – that you boil your tap water before consuming it.
