TFD Responds to Third Residential Fire in Two Days

At 22:00 on December 9, 2017, the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a report of a house fire at 8479 Bay Cedar Drive. Units from stations 1, 3, 4, 8, 13, and 14 as well as members of the Lake Talquin Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the home to investigate. Firefighters arrived on scene and were met by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office , who had removed a disabled occupant from heavy smoke and fire, to safety. Crews attempted an aggressive interior attack and worked diligently until the fire was out. Two dogs were rescued by Tallahassee Fire Department personnel. Two of the occupants were treated on scene by Leon County EMS for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire was a window mounted AC/Heater. Red Cross came in to assist the occupants. Damages are estimated at 10,000. This fire will represent the third red bulb placed on the wreath in TFD’s “Keep the Wreath Green” program.
