TPD Investigates Shooting

As the Tallahassee Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate this case, they are releasing the name of the subjects who were injured in the incident. One of the victims has passed away from his injuries and has been identified as Keives Brooks. Tallahassee PoliceChief Michael J. DeLeo offers his condolences to the family of Mr. Brooks and has them in his thoughts and prayers.
TPD’s Violent Crimes Unit has been working on the case since last night and believes all persons involved in the incident were known to each other prior to the shooting. While TPD Patrol Officers did initially detain several persons involved on scene, no arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is open and on-going.
Technicians with TPD’s Forensic Unit responded to the scene and are continuing to review all collected evidence. The investigator in charge of the case is asking anyone who was at the scene but did not speak with TPD officers to please call (850) 891-4200.Anyone with information may also call Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS if they wish to remain anonymous.
Deceased: Keives Brooks Black Male DOB: 10/24/97
Injured: Ty’Keith Brooks Black Male DOB: 01/04/98
Jamarious Hodo Black Male DOB: 10/12/98
The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a shooting which occurred at 400 Putnam Drive at approximately 8:45 p.m. this evening. Arriving officers and emergency personnel provided immediate medical attention to the victims who were then taken to a local hospital for their injuries. Sadly, one of the people involved has passed away from their injuries. Due to the quick response of TPD officers, one subject is in custody at this time.
The case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. At this time they are interviewing all known witnesses and processing the scene. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
