TPD Takes Criminal and Gun Off the Street

On April 30, 2018, The Tallahassee Police Department was made aware of a traffic crash with the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene, in the parking lot of 2020 West Pensacola Street. Upon officers' arrival contact was made with suspect vehicle and it's driver Brad Gathers. It was discovered that the tag attached to the vehicle was stolen, and Gathers was in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle loaded with a drum styled magazine.
Mr. Gathers is a Florida Convicted Felon and was arrested for the firearm located in his possession along with Petit Theft and Hit and Run charges. Mr. Gathers was later transported to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing. For further details, the probable cause affidavit is attached to this release and has been redacted in accordance with Florida Statute 119.
