TPD Investigates Shooting on Chapel Drive

TPD has arrested Benjamin Mallory in connection for the shooting that occurred at 500 Chapel Drive. Investigators with the Violent Crimes Unit established probable cause to charge Mr. Mallory with Discharging a Firearm or Missile into an Occupied Dwelling, and Attempted Armed Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling. Mr. Mallory is currently in the Leon County Detention Facility. TPD would like to thank all those who assisted the Violent Crimes Unit with this investigation.
Arrested:
Benjamin Mallory, 21 YOA
Charges:
- Discharging a Firearm or Missile into an Occupied Dwelling pursuant to Florida Statute 790.19
- Attempted Armed Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling pursuant to Florida Statute 810.02(2)(b)

TPD has detained a person of interest in relation to the shooting at 500 Chapel Drive. The scene is now safe and residents may return to their homes.

At 8:23 a.m. TPD responded to the 500 Chapel Drive reference a weapons call. Arriving officers received information that the suspect shot at the victim’s door in an effort to gain entry. Officers discovered a bullet hole in the victim’s door, and thankfully no one was injured. At this time the suspect is believed to be barricaded in a nearby apartment. Members of TPD’s Tactical Apprehension and Control Team are currently on scene clearing the area and attempting to make contact with the suspect. The public is advised to avoid the area until given further notice.
