TPD Taking Back Unwanted Prescription Drugs on Saturday, October 26

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has scheduled their Annual National Prescription Drug Take BackDay for Saturday, October 26, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for those who haveaccumulated unwanted or unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications. The Tallahassee PoliceDepartment is committed to keeping our children safe and the drugs out of the hands of individuals who chooseto abuse prescription drugs and over the counter medications. TPD will be partnering with the DEA and other community organizations participating in ‘Operation Medicine Cabinet’ to make this day a success for our community members.
This year Walmart is joining with us to provide more locations for the public to drop off unused or expired prescription medications. If you have any to drop off, please join us this Saturday at TPD Headquarters located at 234 East Seventh Avenue or Walmart located at 4400 West Tennessee Street, 3535 Apalachee Parkway or 5500 Thomasville Road.
Officers from the Tallahassee Police Department will assist participants in the proper disposal of these dangerousdrugs.
If citizens are unable to participate on the day of the event, they are welcome to dispose of prescription medication24 hours a day 7 days a week in the TPD lobby drug disposal bin. Anyone wishing to use the bin can simply bringtheir expired or unwanted medication in a suitable container and place the drugs into the bin. Due to hygieneand health concerns, the bin will not accept liquids, aerosols, needles or razors. The medication will be safelydestroyed by qualified personnel.
