Tallahassee Fire Department Extinguishes Cooking Fire

At 2:46 P.M. the Consolidated Dispatch Agency received a call about a possible structure fire located at 496 Stonehouse Road. Fire units from stations 1, 2, 3, 6, and 16 arrived in scene in four minutes and found heavy smoke coming from the corners of the residence. Firefighters were able to simultaneously extinguish the flames and determine that no one was inside during the fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be from cooking oil catching fire on a stove. No injuries were reported on scene, and damages are estimated to be at $50,000. The Tallahassee Fire Department would like to remind it’s citizens about some kitchen fire safety concerns.
