In anticipation of the Stand Your Ground Rally scheduled for Monday, the Tallahassee Police Department is planning to make the route as safe and efficient as possible for all involved. The march will begin at The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center at 9:30am. The march will proceed east on West Madison Street to Duval Street and finish at Waller Park, located on west side of the Capitol Building.
TPD officers will be on hand to assist both pedestrians and vehicle traffic before the march and will close the following roads once the march commences:
- West Madison Street from the Civic Center (Macomb Street) to Adams Street during the march.
- South Duval Street will be closed at beginning of the march and remain closed between Madison Street and West College Avenue during the event at Waller Park.
- Media satellite trucks should plan to arrive no later than 8am. They will be allowed to park on Duval, between West Pensacola Street and College, in the outside lane (adjacent to Kleman Plaza).
- Overflow and other media parking will be in the City parking lot located at the southeast corner of South Bronough and West Madison Streets. This lot is accessible from South Bronough Street.
The rally in Waller Park is scheduled to conclude at approximately 1:00pm. If you must travel in the area, please make adjustments to your schedule and allow yourself a little extra time.
