Project Share - Neighbors Helping Neighbors
When
the high summer heat or the bitter winter cold hits Tallahassee it
can be an extremely difficult time for some local citizens. Imagine
trying to scrape enough money together to simply pay for cooling or heating
your home. Fortunately, the city has a
program that allows you to help those truly in need.
The city's Project Share program began in 1986, and since then has aided thousands of Tallahassee utility customers needing assistance. For fiscal year 2005 over $46,000 was distributed to 232 needy families in our community. Project Share funds are administered locally by the Capital Area Community Action Agency through a screening process. Each application is carefully scrutinized to insure the funds are used by those in real need.
All tax-free pledges will be automatically transferred into the Project Share account, making the funds immediately available to help those citizens in Tallahassee who need it the most! For more information on Project Share or if you know of anyone needing assistance please contact the city's Utility Customer Services Division at 891-4YOU (4968) or the Capital Area Community Action Agency at 222-2043.
