Betton Hills (Cline-Chamberlin) Stormwater Improvements
Description
This project alleviated flooding of several homes in the Betton Hills area and eliminated overtopping of Cline Street by floodwaters during low frequency storms. Non-structural improvements consisted of acquisition and removal of three homes and flood-proofing two others. Structural improvements included excavating several feet of silt from McCord and Trescott Ponds and regrading the ponds; replacing the culvert under Cline Street and reconstructing the roadway at a higher elevation; excavating and regrading the channel from Trescott Pond to Laguna Pond and installing rock filled gabion baskets along the bottom and sides of the channel to protect it from erosion; replacing the culvert under Laguna Drive; extending Laguna Pond to the south; and constructing an outfall from Laguna pond to the ditch on Centerville Road.
