Northeast Drainage Ditch Stormwater Improvement Study
Description
The Northeast Drainage Ditch (NE Ditch) within the Lake Lafayette Basin has an 8,900-acre watershed at Weems Road that includes the 2,600 acre Park Avenue Ditch and the 2,150 acre McCord Park Ditch. The approximately 5.6 mile ditch flows south from the intersection of Maclay Road and Thomasville Road, generally along US Hwy 319 (Capital Circle, NE) to US Hwy 90 where it turns east towards Lake Lafayette. This project is a stormwater study whose objective is to: define stormwater flooding problems along the NE Ditch; to identify, develop, and study solution alternatives to address the flooding; and to recommend a specific set of solutions for the flood prone areas. The results of the existing flooding analysis will be compared to available FEMA flood hazard information. Where necessary, revisions will be prepared and filed with FEMA to update the official FEMA floodplain and floodway documentation.
