Park Terrace, Parkside & Terrence Heights Flooding Problems
Description
A stormwater management study of the 760-acre Meginnis Creek Tributary watershed upstream of Monroe Street identified 24 residential structures in the Park Terrace, Parkside, and Terrence Heights subdivisions that are subject to flooding in a 25-year frequency storm. These flooding problems are being addressed by in two phases by the Boone Boulevard Stormwater Management Facility, and the Park Terrace and Parkside Stormwater Improvements projects. The Boone Boulevard Stormwater Management Facility will be constructed first. Under this project, Boone Boulevard will be relocated between Monticello Drive and the Northwood Centre, and the existing Boone Boulevard stormwater management facility will be greatly enlarged. Expansion of the stormwater management facility will allow the discharge of runoff from the Abbiegail Drive area to be increased to alleviate flooding in the Park Terrace and Parkside subdivisions. Construction of the Park Terrace and Parkside Stormwater Improvements will begin after construction of the Boone Boulevard Stormwater Management Facility is underway. This project will provide the majority of the flood relief, and consists of the construction of a new stormwater management facility on Abbiegail Drive, a new outfall system from the Abbiegail Drive area, and improvements to the drainage systems in the Park Terrace and Parkside subdivisions.
