Description
The objectives of the Valley Road Drainage Improvements project were to alleviate flooding of roadways, businesses and residences, increase public safety and improve water quality. Deficiencies in the existing roadway drainage systems caused street flooding on three roadways and two alleys, and yard and/or house flooding at twenty residences. Ditches adjacent to the roadway created hazardous driving conditions on Valley Road. Erosion within the ditches and at the discharge from the drainage systems degraded surface water quality. Construction of the improvements provided long-term benefits by reducing flooding, increasing public safety, and improving surface water quality by eliminating erosion.
