TPD Seeks to Find Justice for Oluwatoyin Salau and Victoria Sims

June 16, 2020

As the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) continues its active investigation into the tragic deaths of Oluwatoyin Salau and Victoria Sims, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to their families and all those who knew them through their individual volunteer work. Each woman was passionate about improving the lives of others. With Salau protesting for justice and policy change with Movement 850 and Sims serving the elderly with AARP, TPD is committed to upholding the legacies of their service on behalf of others by bringing the person responsible for their murders to justice.

Salau first contacted TPD on June 6 to report a possible sexual battery that occurred the previous evening. Soon after, as officers followed up on her case, Salau's family reported her missing. TPD intensified its efforts to locate Salau. Outreach was initiated to her known associates and victim advocate groups to which she had been referred. Additionally, officers checked locations she and others without permanent residences frequented. A missing person flier was widely disseminated, garnering national attention. A team of more than a dozen TPD investigators worked tirelessly to find Salau.

As public attention related to the case grew, misinformation spread, including false tip line numbers. TPD would like to thank Salau's mother for supporting its efforts by encouraging the public to share information through official channels to ensure officers could quickly act on leads.

During this time, a second woman – Victoria Sims – was reported missing by her family. Responding officers found that her residence had been ransacked and burglarized and her vehicle was missing. Information obtained during that investigation lead TPD to a home on Monday Road. Tragically, both women were discovered deceased at the property.

The resident of the Monday Road home, Aaron Glee Jr., fled to Orlando on a bus prior to TPD's arrival. At the request of TPD, the Orlando Police Department was able to intercept Glee and take him into custody. TPD immediately sent investigators to Orlando to further the investigation. Based upon evidence recovered at the scene and information gleaned in Orlando, Glee was charged with murder and kidnapping.

TPD investigators are continuing their efforts to solidify information obtained during the course of the multiple investigations connected to the double murder.

At this time, there is no indication that the original battery Salau reported is related to her death. The information and description Salau provided to police and posted on social media prior to her disappearance does not match the person ultimately found to be responsible for her murder.

Our hearts are with the victims' families as they grieve. TPD is committed to ensuring justice on behalf of Salau and Sims.

The public is asked to report any information they may have that could aid in Salau's original battery case or the double murder of Salau and Sims. You can report information directly to TPD at 850-891-4200 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 850-574-TIPS (8477).
