Convicted Felon Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop

Tallahassee Police officers were conducting proactive patrol to address citizen complaints of criminal activity in the area of Sharer Road and North Monroe Street. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle at 3:09 a.m. this morning but the driver refused to stop. The vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed and almost crashed into an officer. A brief pursuit of the vehicle by officers ensued and the vehicle crashed near Macon Community Park located at the corner of Grady Road and Henderson Road. The driver, Chazdin Miller, ran away from the vehicle but was quickly located and arrested by officers. During the investigation of the incident, cocaine and a stolen .357 caliber, fully loaded firearm were located in Mr. Miller’s possession. The firearm had been reported stolen during a burglary in Tallahassee in 2018.
Mr. Miller, a Florida Convicted Felon, was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released for a minor injury sustained during the traffic crash. Officers transported Mr. Miller to the Leon County Detention Facility for processing.

Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon pursuant to Florida Statute 790.23(1)(a).
Grand Theft of a Firearm pursuant to Florida Statute 812.014(2)(c)5.
Resisting an Officer without Violence pursuant to Florida Statute 843.02.
Driving While License Suspended or Revoked pursuant to Florida Statute 322.34(2)(a).
