TPD Continues to Investigate Illegal Gambling Operations
March 05, 2020
During the week of March 2nd, the Tallahassee Police Department’s Special Investigations Section, as part of on-going investigations, served three search warrants at local businesses hosting illegal gambling operations. The gambling operations, frequently referred to as “internet cafés,” featured internet-based computer games of chance similar to video slot machines.
The service of the search warrants led to five arrests and the seizure of over $4,300.00 in U.S. currency, two semi-automatic handguns, a TASER conducted electrical weapon, and several computers.
The search warrants were served at:
- Grace Entertainment Inc. at 3539 Apalachee Parkway #3
- Southern Amusement Arcade at 1214 Capital Circle Southeast – A & B
- Havana 2009 LLC at 4727 Crawfordville Road #10,11, & 12
TPD initially began an investigation into multiple illegal “internet café” gambling operations in April 2019 after receiving numerous citizen complaints regarding the illegal activity.
TPD investigators will be seeking arrest warrants on additional individuals as this investigation continues. Anyone with information about illegal “internet cafés” may call 850-891-4200 and ask to speak with the Special Investigations Section.
