TFD Responds to Cooking Fire on Allison Marie Court
June 10, 2022
On June 9, at 4:47 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a structure fire in the 3100 block of Allison Marie Court. TFD arrived on scene in less than five minutes and found a two-story duplex with a fire in the kitchen.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire and searched the two homes. Occupants were out of the structure upon TFD arrival and there were no injuries. The cause of the fire was unattended cooking, and it resulted in an estimated $25,000 in damages. The fire was extinguished before it could spread and damage the adjoining home.
TFD was assisted on scene by Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County EMS and City of Tallahassee Utilities. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the resident.
To help prevent fires while cooking, keep flammable items away from the stove top, wear short or close-fitting sleeves and have a lid nearby to quickly cover and smother a fire. Get more fire safety information from TFD by following the department on social media or visiting Talgov.com/Fire.
