TPD Seizes More Than a Dozen Guns Following Investigation
July 27, 2021
The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) arrested one person following a months-long investigation that started earlier this year. During the arrest and subsequent search warrants, 17 guns were seized.
For six months, investigators with TPD’s General Narcotics Unit and the Technical Operations Unit, in collaboration with the United States Attorney’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, continued to collect physical and electronic evidence. Following a thorough investigation, probable cause was developed, and a federal search warrant was executed.
Upon a search of the subject’s residence, in the 1500 block of Coombs Drive, 13 firearms were located ranging from AR style rifles to pistols. Eleven of the firearms are identified as “ghost guns,” which means they were assembled from individual parts purchased by the subject and thus lack traditional commercial serial numbers to track them. During the residential search, methamphetamine and thousands of rounds of ammunition were also seized.
A search of the subject’s business, in 3400 block of Weems Road, resulted in four additional firearms being located, as well as more methamphetamine.
This investigation is a testament to TPD’s dedication to eliminate illegal guns and drugs from the community, as their presence impacts safety and overall quality of life for citizens. This investigation exemplifies collaborations between state and federal partners to identify a problem, develop a plan and make a concerted effort to bring those responsible to justice.

An arrest is merely an allegation that a defendant has committed a violation of criminal law and is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to due process, to include a fair trial, during which it is the government’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
