TFD Responds to Residential Fire on Gunn Street

This morning at 6:43, the Consolidated Dispatch Agency was notified of a structure fire on Tallahassee’s south side. Fire crews arrived on scene to a residential home on Gunn Street to find heavy smoke coming from the interior and roof of the structure. Firefighters worked quickly to mitigate the situation and bring the fire under control to prevent further damage. No occupants were found by firefighters who performed a search shortly after arriving on scene. Occupants escaped prior to the fire departments arrival. No injuries were reported. Firefighters on scene determined the fire was started by food in the stove. Damages are estimated at $40,000. Red Cross was called for occupants that were displaced due to the fire. The Tallahassee Fire Departments want to remind citizens to always be mindful while cooking in their homes. Never leave food on the stove or oven unintended.
