April 28, 2020
Just after 11:00pm on April 27th, TPD responded to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of Ocala Road in reference to a 911 call. In that call, the adult male victim said he had been sitting in his car when suddenly a young man opened his car door. The victim said there were four individuals in total, and at the time one of them opened his door, others were rummaging through the trunk of a nearby vehicle.
Once the suspect realized the vehicle was occupied, he and the others fled on foot. The victim was able to provide a clothing description of the suspects, and arriving officers saw them enter a vehicle and drive out of the apartment complex and onto Ocala Road.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver stopped the vehicle and immediately fled on foot. He was apprehended after a short chase. The other three suspects remained with the vehicle.
The investigation revealed the group had stolen a baton, commonly used as an impact weapon, from the first vehicle they had entered.
All four were arrested and transported to the Juvenile Assessment and Receiving Center.
