TPD Celebrates New Officers and Sergeant
August 08, 2022
Monday, Aug. 8., the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) celebrated a joint swearing-in and promotion ceremony, welcoming 11 new officers and the promotion of one officer to the rank of sergeant.
"Each time we welcome new officers, it is a reminder of our collective commitment to protect and serve this community," Chief Lawrence Revell said. "Having a swearing-in and promotional ceremony simultaneously is empowering because it allows new officers to see firsthand that, with the right work ethic, there is room for growth within the agency."
The honorees' families and friends, along with City leaders, gathered at City Hall to recognize these brave men and women. Six of the recruits join the ranks of TPD with prior experience in the military.
The Tallahassee Police Department is one of the oldest and longest accredited police departments in the nation, serving the citizens of Tallahassee since 1841. The department is comprised of nearly 400 sworn members and nearly 200 civilian employees. For more information on how to join the ranks of the Tallahassee Police Department, visit Talgov.com/Police.
