Deck the Halls is Back Again and Grand!
Annual Fundraiser Returns to Senior Center Dec. 6
November 25, 2013
On the eve of Winter Festival, another grand, annual holiday celebration occurs in the Capital City. On December 6, the Tallahassee Senior Center will proudly host Deck the Halls: A Celebration of Wreaths. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., this merry event transforms the Senior Center into a winter wonderland full of food, music, good cheer and even better company.
To keep party-goers' spirits jazzy, the Deborah Lawson Band performs live at Deck the Halls. To get yourself in the mood early, check out the fun Deck the Halls: A Winter Wonderland music video now on YouTube.com/WCOT. You can also check it out on the City of Tallahassee and Tallahassee Senior Center Facebook pages or watch for it on WCOT, channel 13.
The music of the Leon High School Guitar Band greets guests as they arrive for an evening of fun and festive fare. While you nibble delectable goodies and enjoy tasty drink concoctions, this feast for your senses is sure to put you in the mood to participate in the ever-popular, highly competitive silent auction.
The silent auction offers a mixture of glitz, glamour, comfort and care. Place bids on everything from golf outings and destination vacations to jewelry, wine and massages! There are items available for everyone on your list - even Fido!
Additionally, the $500 cash giveaway is back again this year. Two entries will cost $10 and can only be purchased at the event. You do not, however, have to be present at the time of the drawing to win.
The true centerpiece of the event though is the menagerie of hand-crafted wreaths, generously created by donors and sponsors. With so many options, there is sure to be a wreath you'll want to buy to spruce up your door. From traditional red and green wreaths to shiny silver and blue, there are as many options as there are décor styles. Some are strung with bells and bows. Others have ribbon and tulle. You might even find the perfect Florida shell wreath to leave on display all year 'round. With so many wreaths, you might consider buying one for your door and a couple more for your windows!
Wreaths are currently on display at the Senior Center. You can place an early bid and hope to win your prize, or you can buy it now to give to a loved one or hang at your home.
Tickets are on sale now for Deck the Halls: A Celebration of Wreaths. They cost $40 each, and discounts are available for groups of 6, 8 and 10. It's the perfect reason to round up your friends and partake in holiday fun - with the added benefit of zero clean up! The Senior Center can accept payment for tickets in the form of cash, check or card. All proceeds from the event go toward services for Tallahassee's elder population. Please call 891-4003 or stop by the center to purchase your tickets today.
At the event, free valet parking will be available.
