Pipe Replacement Project Ahead on Centerville Road
City to Host a Community Meeting on June 6
June 04, 2019
As part of its continued investment in infrastructure, the City of Tallahassee is planning wastewater system improvements along a portion of Centerville Road near Hickory Ridge Road. This work is necessary to replace a segment of aging pipe in the area and enhance service reliability.
To provide information about the project, the City will host a community meeting on Thursday, June 6, from 5:30-7 p.m. in the library of Holy Comforter Episcopal School, 2001 Fleischmann Road. The meeting will be an open house, so residents can come and go at any time that works best for their schedule. Information stations will be set up around the room, and residents will be able to talk one-on-one with staff to review plans and learn more about the planned work.
Construction is slated to begin on June 17 and involves replacing roughly 1,500 feet of sewer pipe under Centerville Road, which will require open trenches and heavy equipment. The impacted roadway will be resurfaced upon completion of the work.
To create a safe work zone for the crew and motorists, there will be weekday lane closures on Centerville Road near Hickory Ridge Road from June 17-21. The remainder of construction will occur on weekends and will require a full road closure. The closures will be coordinated with emergency service providers, and flag personnel will assist traffic through the area. Local traffic will be maintained, with driveways and side streets accessible at all times. Motorists and cyclists are advised to use extreme caution and expect delays in the area during construction.
