Adoptable Community Pets & Rehoming Program
The listing below are animals currently in need of homes in our community. This program is a courtesy to Leon County pet owners who have had to make the difficult decision to rehome their pet. These animals are offered for adoption by their owners at no cost as they are looking for a loving, lifelong home. Just a few simple steps and you'll be meeting your new best friend:
- When you see an animal you'd like to adopt, please download and complete the questionnaire (PDF); if you already have an approved questionnaire on file just give us a call! If you have issues submitting, please fill out the form, save it and send the saved PDF to adopt@talgov.com.
- Once an adoption questionnaire has been submitted, an adoption counselor will be in contact with you within 2 business days of receiving your application.
- After approval your questionnaire will be emailed to the animal's current owner. They will be responsible with following up with you to arrange a meeting of the pet so please be patient.

COPPER - A152829 I am a neutered male Redbone Coonhound mix and I am about 8 years old Hi, I'm Copper! I was originally adopted from the shelter about six years ago and my current owners are preparing for an out of state move and unable to take me along. I'm a well rounded, well mannered inside dog who is crate trained and housetrained. While I don't get along with cats, I do get along with dogs and have been known to go to the dog park. I enjoy going on car rides and swimming too (although I am not a fan of baths)! My owner describes me as 'an adorable and lovable dog. He loves to play tug of way with toys, and will occassionally run around just to get some energy out' as I am generally known to be a calm dog. I love to play with tennis balls and I've been living with children. My owner said "Copper would make a great companion to love and cuddle with." Do I sound like a perfect dog or what?! Don't wait, apply today to meet me!

BERNADETTA - A195903 I am a spayed female Domestic Shorthair and I am about 1 year and 4 months old Meet Bernadetta! She is a beautiful, healthy, 1 yr old that is full of personality! She is active and still quite kitten-like at heart. She was found as an abandonned infant outside of a business and only needs to be rehomed because she doesn't get along with the other animals in the home. So if you are mezmerized by her green eyes and are ok only having one pet, Bernadetta may be the gal for you!!

JOSIE - A094933 I am a spayed female American Shorthair mix and I am about 14 years old Hi, I'm Josie! My current owner adopted me from the shelter when I was a kitten and has loved me my whole life! However, she recently had to go into a nursing home so I am looking for a new home. I was super attached to my previous owner so it may take me some time to warm up but once I do, I am super affectionate! Dogs may not be my best friends but I tolerate them as long as they are respectful. I have not been around children and I am not a big fan of being picked up so a home without small children would probably be best! If I sound like a girl you would love to meet, apply today!
