Application Deadline Extended for Citizens Police Review Board
Civic and Social Group Support Sought for Interested Applicants
November 19, 2020
The application window for those wishing to serve on the new Citizens Police Review Board (CPRB) has been extended until 5 p.m. on January 5.
The board will be comprised of nine members. Each member of the City Commission will appoint one individual to serve. The remaining four CPRB members will be appointed by the City Commission as a whole from the applications submitted with a letter of nomination by community-based civic and social service organizations.
Civic and social service organizations is a broad category that could include local chambers of commerce, social justice advocacy groups, faith-based organizations and local mental health, juvenile justice or university/college associations, for example. Groups that would like to support an applicant should discuss it with the individual, who will need to submit the application and a nomination letter.
Those interested in applying should visit Talgov.com/transparency/boards to complete the online form. If you have questions regarding the application process, call the City Treasurer-Clerk's Office at 850-891-8130.
The CPRB will serve as an advisory board to the City Commission, City Manager and Police Chief. Members will review, discuss and make recommendations regarding completed internal affairs reports involving use of force and other matters of importance or interest to the CPRB, the City or the Police Chief.
