Airport to Host TSA PreCheck Temporary Enrollment Center
October 02, 2018
To assist local travelers with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) PreCheck Program enrollment, the Tallahassee International Airport (TLH) will host a Temporary PreCheck Enrollment Center from Monday, Oct. 29, through Friday, Nov. 9. The temporary enrollment center will be located adjacent to the Visitor Information Center in the Ivan Munroe Terminal facility and will be staffed from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday each week.
The TSA PreCheck Program offers enrolled travelers greater ease and efficiency when processing through airport security checkpoints. If approved to use TSA PreCheck lanes at participating airports, travelers are permitted to keep on their shoes, belts and light outerwear jackets and can also leave their laptops and liquid 3-1-1 bags inside their carry-on bags when they process through an airport security checkpoint. Wait times for TSA PreCheck lanes are typically 5 minutes or less.
Applying for TSA PreCheck via this center is easy. Applicants are encouraged to pre-enroll by simply clicking here. Choose “Start Application Now” then “Apply Now” and fill out steps 1 through 4. Once you arrive at step 4, type in your location as “Tallahassee, FL” and be sure to choose “Tallahassee International Airport.” Select “Next” at the bottom of the screen and select an appointment time. (The first available shows, but you can use the drop down to choose a different date and/or time.) Please note that to complete the application process, you will need to bring proof of identity and U.S. citizenship documentation (such as a U.S. Passport or birth certificate and a driver’s license). The application process is completed on site when your fingerprints are captured and the $85 fee for your background check is collected. The fee can be paid by credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier's check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. After completing enrollment, successful applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) via U.S. mail. The enrollee can enter the provided KTN in the “Known Traveler Number” field when booking airline reservations.
In addition to the TSA PreCheck Temporary Enrollment Center at TLH, travelers can also enroll at one of several airport locations across the country. More than 200 airports and 54 domestic and international airlines participate in the TSA PreCheck Program nationwide. VisitTSA.gov/PreCheck to learn more.
“We are pleased to be able to work with our TSA partners to offer this service at TLH. The Temporary Enrollment Center will offer convenience and accessibility to travelers who prefer to enroll locally at TLH,” Interim Director of Aviation David Pollard said.
