Clean Up with Cash for Trash
April 07, 2017
If you're serious about your spring cleaning activities, the City has a program for you. Cash for Trash will take place Saturday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event allows all City residential utility customers to bring household trash items that are too large to fit in their 96-gallon garbage container to the Solid Waste Services facility on Municipal Way for proper disposal.
As a thank you, participating City utility customers with an active garbage service account will receive a $5 credit toward their utility bill. To receive the credit, participants must present a City utility bill before unloading materials. Participants can make multiple trips; however, only one credit per utility bill will be provided. This allows customers disposing of items for their neighbors to do so and assist them in reaping the benefits of the Cash for Trash program as well.
Though the City encourages residential customers to use their every-other-week bulky item collection service for disposing of large items at the curbside, the Cash for Trash program provides an alternative method of disposal. This is especially useful for those who live in an apartment or have a number of large items to dispose.
Examples of items customers may bring include old furniture, large and small household appliances and tires (limit of four per customer).
Residents may also bring household hazardous waste and electronic items (including all computer parts) to Cash for Trash for disposal/recycling by Leon County's Solid Waste Division.
This event is not for commercial customers. Also, no household garbage, construction/demolition debris or yard waste will be accepted.
Items should be brought to the City’s Solid Waste Services facility located at 2727 Municipal Way (just off West Pensacola Street near the Messer Field softball complex).
