TPD to Host Open House
August 22, 2017 between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm
August 14, 2017
The Tallahassee Police Department will be hosting an Open House for community members who are interested in a career in law enforcement and are between the ages of 14-21. The Open House will be held on August 22, 2017 between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm at the Tallahassee Police Department, located at 234 East Seventh Avenue. The Cadet Program is a perfect opportunity to take the first step into a law enforcement career path. Participants in the program must be in at least 9th grade, have a GPA of āCā or better, and have a positive attitude. Once in the program, the Cadets will meet on Tuesdays between 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
Anyone interested in learning about and receiving training in subjects such as crime scene response and preservation, crisis intervention, firearms, first aid, criminal investigations, traffic accident investigation, traffic stops, defensive tactics, and many more law enforcement related topics will need to come to the Open House. Cadets are also members of the Florida Association of Police Explorers (FAPE). Membership in FAPE allows the Cadets an opportunity to interact with other Cadets around the state. Each summer they participate in the FAPE State Competition. This past July, TPD Cadets finished 17th overall at the competition.
