Downtown Improvements to Impact Roadways
October 20, 2017
From new sidewalks to utility upgrades, signs of progress – in the form of construction – can be found all over town from FAMU Way to Market Street. As part of the continued investment to enhance infrastructure, City crews will begin repaving Duval Street between Gaines Street and Tennessee Street starting on Monday, Oct. 23. To minimize impacts to traffic, crews will pave one lane at a time, leaving two lanes of traffic open during work hours, which will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Work is expected to be completed within three weeks.
Additionally, improvements being made at the Capitol parking garage will require that Madison Street between Monroe and Adams streets be closed from 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, through 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29. This will be a 24-hour closure, and detours will be clearly posted to navigate motorists around the work zone.
